To add insult to injury, there would be another group of angels, another group who were about to fall
from grace, another group who would put the final “nail in the coffin,” in regards to the world’s depravity.

I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and an holy one came down from
heaven…
                                                                              - Dan. 4:13 (KJV)

These angels would
also produce offspring - just as illegitimate and rebellious as the Nephilim, if not
more. These two-hundred or so angels would also begin to grumble about situations in the world; and,
collectively, would take the world on its antediluvian tailspin. These angels were called
the Shining
Ones
, the Holy Ones, or Egregoroi. Their most famous name, however, is the Watchers.[1]

Also k
nown as the Sleepless Angels, the Watchers
were assigned to “watch over” mankind continually.[2]
Most were large in stature
; appointed by God to
descend to earth and teach people essential truths,
values, and ways of righteousness.[3] They also
made sure people were protected in their everyday
life.[4] Even these angels, with their roles of assist-
ance, would not be immune to the temptations this
corrupted world had to offer. It would not be long be-
fore they would cease to help people throughout their
earthly existence, and push things towards the op-
posite extreme! Let’s look at what would bring about
a change in the attitudes of these angels, their “new”
positions on this planet, and why it angered God to
the utmost.

These Watchers represented a larger group of angels who, like the Nephilim, could also take on
human form. Interestingly, these Watchers were not only mentioned in the Bible (i.e. Daniel 4:13), but
also a variety of ancient texts:

-
The Book of Jubilees 10:5, 4:15, 21-23

- The Testament of Amram (The Dead Sea Scrolls) 4Q534

- The Damascus (Zadokite) Document (The Dead Sea Scrolls) CD, 4Q265-73, 5Q12, 6Q15

- The Testament of the Twelve Patriarchs, The Testament of Reuben, The First-Born son of Jacob
 and Leah 5:1

- The Genesis Apocryphon (The Dead Sea Scrolls) IQ20

They are also referenced in some pagan texts, as well. It is pretty obvious these giant angels were
well known throughout the ancient world. Let’s discover how the Watchers assaulted our planet - an
outrage that set the course for the world’s up-and-coming flood.

The Watchers may have even been present all the way back to the time of Adam. For whatever
reason, they didn’t falter, along with other angels of the day. Whatever the reason, they remained
chaste throughout all these years; even through most of the people below them, now, were falling like
flies. Their time was soon to come
; the continual pressure of seeing so much sin below them could be
too much for some to handle.

Years had gone by since the Watchers first began to descend to the earth, to be the teachers of man-
kind. Around 3040 B
.C., a thousand years after Adam’s creation, the Watchers routinely descended
and ascended a great mountain, and sang their praises to God.[5] This mountain was called
Hermon.[6] While they were safely up in the sky, the Watchers could look down on their world and
view the horrible atrocities from a distance. Over time, they probably began to have a condescending
attitude to everyone below them. They got closer and closer to the action. They, finally, began to
complain to God about it:

And God said unto them… “I created him (Adam) out of the dust… and I will not make my handiwork
a laughingstock for his enemies.” And those angels said, “Praise be unto thee, O Lord. For thou, the
Knower of hearts, knowest that we have reviled Adam”… And (God)… answered them on behalf of
Adam… “You have I created out of fire and air with the one intent (that ye should) praise (Me). Him
have I created of twice as many elements as you – of dust and water, and of wind and fire; and he
became (a being) of flesh and blood… And if his heart inciteth him to good, he walketh with good
intent; and if the Devil seduceth him, he walketh with him on an evil path. As for you, ye have no
other object in your minds but praise of Me, with the exception of that arrogant one (Satan) who
produced evil, and became an evil being, and was driven forth from your assembly. And now, why
do ye magnify yourselves over Adam? If ye were as he is, and I had created you of water and dust,
ye would have been flesh and blood, and ye would have transgressed My commandment more than
he hath done”… And the angels said unto him… “we will not oppose Thy word; for we are spiritual
beings for life, and he is a creature of dust (doomed) to folly”… And straightway there were given
unto them… flesh, and blood, and a heart of the children of men.

                                                        - Book of the Glory of Kings (Kerba Nagast) 100[7]

Apparently, the Watchers felt the need to prove their worth. They thought, with superior intellect and
heavenly knowledge, they would not allow
themselves to fall like their angelic predecessors. Confident
in their resolve they freely choose to leave their former habitation.[8] To prove to God they were right,
these angels volunteered to, “abandon their proper, former abode,” and take on human form.[9] They
were around this human depravity
every day. They were the instructors in human righteousness –
how could
they falter?

As in today, over time, their awareness (and eventual acceptance) of Cain’s culture eventually allowed
them to go down these same wrong paths - permanently.

When they (the Sethites) saw the daughters of Cain and their beauty… they committed fornication
with them, and destroyed their souls.
                            - Book of the Rolls (Kitab Al-Magall) 10[33]

Sexual sins, because of their nature, are capable of destroying one both physically and morally.[34]
The men of Seth “slew their own souls” by adulterating with the people of the valley.[35] After becom-
ing physically close to them, then mingling among them, the minds of these Sethites adopted their
Cainite ways. Many of them became as unclean as dogs, and utterly forgot God’s laws. There were
barely any pure Sethites left, at the end:

…and at length only Yârêd (Jared) and a few others remained on the mountain.

                          - Cave of Treasures The Second Thousand Years (notes)[36]

The combined people of the valley (the Cainites and Sethites), now, were collectively causing pollution
to their world - one morality being absorbed by the other. There would no longer be enmity – they were
united.

…God would punish the descendants of Cain and those who mixed with them and were sympathetic
to them…
                                                                        - al-Tabari Enoch to Noah 177[37]

This slow-but-sure landslide into depravity also put this whole Prophecy of God into jeopardy. This was
the final factor of God’s tolerance. First, there were invasions of Nephilim and Watcher blood into the
human gene pool; now, there were barely any pure Sethites left.

Maybe this
could have been the perfect time for God’s prophesized savior to be born. Maybe a few of
the pure-blooded Sethites could still allow for the Prophecy of Genesis 3:15 to be fulfilled. As we’ll see,
however, something else would occur; something which would bring this possibility to a grinding halt
.
Soon, something which would further complicate things - even change the direction of our whole world.
We’ll find out more about this in The Seventh Generation.
on to the savior, this would nullify the Prophecy - and possibly
n
ullify their own fate.[18]

Because of all these problems, the world was going downhill - fast. The timeframe for their destruction
was upon them. There was no other way for mankind, as a whole, to go! This was the last straw, in
God’s mind. The actions the Nephilim, the Cainites, and, now, the Watchers brought to the world past
the point of no return. They would compromise every single descendent of Adam if gone unchecked.
There was something in the air, however. People had the feeling change was upon them. What would
happen to those who actually wanted to maintain their righteous ways? More importantly (in God’s
eyes): how would the survival of pure, Adamic seed be assured?

Enter Seth:

And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she,
hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.
                   - Gen. 4:25 (KJV)

The name
Seth means, “the appointed one,” or “replacement.”[19] One ancient source stated that,
after the birth of Seth, Eve exclaimed, “God has heard my prayer, and has delivered me out of my
affliction.” Seth seems to be
appointed as Eve’s emancipator for a number of reasons.[20] For one,
he seemed to be divinely
appointed to take the place of slaughtered Abel! Only Eve, according to the
prophecy of Genesis 3:15, was to be matriarch of the up-and-coming bloodline of the savior, as we
know. Since Seth was
considered the “chosen” son of the Adamic seed line, he became their patriarch;
in charge of the pious after Adam’s inevitable death. Let’s look at this “anointed” son of Adam, a child
who actually looked like his father, unlike Cain and Abel.

The descendants of Seth became known as the
Sethites. These Sethites - special descendants of the
Adamic seed line - were required to stay righteous, and pass their untainted seed on to the one
who would be savior of the world. Their attempts at wholesomeness would not last, however. Members
of this seed would begin to fall to temptation - one by one – just like their angelic counterparts.

Some sources stated the sons of Seth dwelled in the mountains near the Garden of Eden
; others
stated they moved, far away, into a whole other land. They tried to move away to escape all the
problems around them.[21] In this new land, they were able to worship God freely, at least for a while.
Some sources stated they moved to the mountain once inhabited by the Watchers: Mount Hermon.
This mountain – actually located at what would now be the northern tip of Israel – became their new
symbol of peace and tranquility. This mount, as we know, was the mount
where the Watchers were
commanded to
ascended and descended; in order to sing praises to their God. Now, it seemed a perfect
place for any human who truly wanted to be closer to their Lord.[22]

Even through some Sethites ascended up the mountain, and had the best of intentions, there were a
number of unsavory people settling in areas all around them.[23] Some of these valley-dwellers, the
majority of them being the Cainites, noticed these Sethites wanted to remain pious
; and, because of it,
seemed bent on their destruction. Human nature dictates that a person in sin does not want to be
alone. A lot of the Cainites in the valley wanted everyone around them to be in “the same boat,” and
do the same thing
- and this included the Sethites. Adam, still alive, brought his son and family together:

(Adam speaking)… my son Seth, governor of the sons of thy people… thou shalt rule them purely
and holily in an the fear of God. And keep ye offspring separate from the offspring of Cain, the
murderer.
                                                                      - Cave of Treasures The Death of Adam[24]

The time
of Adam's death was soon to arrive, however. Adam tried to instruct his remaining descendants
in virtue, humility, and purity. He gave one more instruction to Seth and his children - not to associate with
the descendants of Cain.[25] He wanted them to worship God in the proper manner; up in their mountain,
and away from all of the temptation below.[26] He knew how important it was for God’s prophecy to
be fulfilled.

I will make you to take an oath, and to swear by the holy blood of Abel, that none of you will go down
from this holy mountain to the children of Cain, the murderer. For ye know well the enmity which
hath existed between us and Cain from the day whereon he slew Abel.
                                                                                    - Cave of Treasures The Rule of Seth[27]

Interesting choice of words, here. As we know, through the Prophecy of Genesis 3:15, the seeds of the
Serpent would be at
enmity with seeds of Adam and Eve. Now, almost 1000 years after Adam’s
creation, the descendants of Eve (through the Sethites) were at enmity with the seeds of Cain, as well
as other people of the day. The divisions between the two were clearly defined by this time.

There was no “political correctness” then. There were no campaigns of awareness. The Sethites were
not given lessons in tolerance. They were not told they should live with other groups of sinful people
and look the other way. The Sethites were told, strait out,
not to go along with the descendants of
Cain
. It was so important they kept their blood pure for reason of the prophesized savior.

These Cainites knew about Adam, and the intentions of these Sethites, and began to press hard on
their resolve. The “ways of Cain” and the Serpent
helped to turn all of the lands around them into
massive “carnivals” of debauchery. As long as Sethites remained up in the mountain, however, God
assured they would be apart from any Cainite wiles. The ancient historian Philo stated that these people
of Cain committed all sorts of immoral acts and deeds:

The inhabitants are the companions of impiety, ungodliness, self-love, haughtiness, falsehood, vain
opinions; the men wise in their own conceit, the men who know not wisdom as relating to truth, the
men who are full of ignorance, and stupidity, and folly; and all the other similar and kindred evils.
                            - Philo Judaeus On the Posterity of Cain and His Exile 15, 52[28]

A number of people would also thrive in the acts of robbery and violent crime, much like today.[29]
The Cainites allowed one motivation to endure: if they and their whole world were going down, they’d
at least feel a little better about their own practices if everyone else did the same thing! Interestingly,
many of us already understand what this saying means:

What we tolerate today will be embraced tomorrow.
                                                                                     - unknown

Regretfully, the Sethites, continuing to see all of what was going on beneath them, became curious:

Little by little the children of Seth began to wish to join the sons of Cain…
                                  - Cave of Treasures The Second Thousand Years (notes)[30]

Eventually, the curiosity of these Sethites got the better of them. The Cainites noticed them coming
down, to get a better look. Interestingly, some ancient sources even stated the Sethites were
spiritually
protected, as long as they stayed up on the mountain. Once they went beyond a certain point,
however, their supernatural protection vanished, and temptation began to overwhelm their souls.

And they kept on gathering together on the top of the mountain, to look upon the children of Cain…
After this a hundred men of the children of Seth gathered together, and said among themselves,
“Come let us go down to the children of Cain, and see what they do, and enjoy ourselves with them.”
                                                           - Second Book of Adam and Eve 20:16, 24[31]

As soon as the women of the valley noticed the Sethites were coming down to see what was going on,
many of them began to use their own bodies to lure them down, into their own “party” (just like they
did to the fallen angels):

…And when they looked at the daughters of Cain, at their beautiful figures, and at their hands and
feet dyed with colour, and tattooed in ornaments on their faces, the fire of sin was kindled in them.
Then Satan made them look most beautiful before the sons of Seth, as he also made the sons of
Seth appear of the fairest in the eyes of the daughters of Cain, so that the daughters of Cain lusted
after the sons of Seth like ravenous beasts, and the sons of Seth after the daughters of Cain, until
they committed abomination with them.
                      - Second Book of Adam and Eve 20:26-32[32]
We know these fallen angels were supposed to teach
people what
not to do; now they began to participate
in the opposite. No wonder the world was becoming so
rampant; it was like a drug enforcement officer showing
people
how to use drugs! The misdeeds of the Watchers
and their Mighty Men descendants helped to devastate
the world much faster than any Nephilim infusion could
have dreamed.

Beyond sufficing to power-hungry people around them,
we’ve already touched on another reason the Nephilim
bred with so many different women – a very important
reason. First, we understand that God assured that these
Watchers would not be allowed a
second chance for re-
demption, just like the Nephilim, if they descended perm-
anently.[17] Another reason the Watchers would (like their
Nephilim predecessors) work so hard to pollute the earth
was, again, the Prophecy of Genesis 3:15. If these angels,
collectively, hoped to prevent Adamic seed from being passed
2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of (men) Adam that they
were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with
Adam (the man), for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be
  an hundred and twenty years.
4 There were giants (Nephilim) in the earth in those days (at the time
that marked 120 years before Adam’s death); and after that (time),
when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men…

On the surface, the verses might sound confusing. With a little additional information, however, they
provide a great deal about the Nephilim, the Watchers, and our antediluvian world.

We see that it was during a certain time that
another group of angels (the “Sons of God”) came unto
the daughters of men, and bore children by them. Could these “Sons of God” be the Watchers? We
know they were not the Nephilim, because the Bible mentioned them in an entirely different part of this
context (in Gen. 6:4)! This seems to be a
new group of angels, a group with a whole different under-
taking:

…the Watchers are the sons of God (Genesis 6) sent from heaven to instruct the children of men; they
fell after they descended to earth… But not all Watchers descended: those that remained are the holy
Watchers…
                                                                       (“A Dictionary of Angels”, n. d., p. 10)[11]

If we follow the assumption there were two individual groups of angels mentioned, here, the context of
these verses becomes clear.[12]

Gen. 6:
2 …the sons of God (the Watchers) saw the daughters of Adam
that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they
  chose.

4 There were (already) giants (i.e. the Nephilim) in the earth

in those days (e.g. the point in time approximately 120 years

prior to Adam’s death); and after that (point in time)…
the sons of God (the Watchers) came unto the daughters of
men, and they bare children to them…
                          (in retranslation)

The Watchers also began to lust after women. These two-hundred or so angels descended, took on
human form, and honestly believed things would be different. They didn’t take into account the
strengths of human emotion and desire, the longer they took on corporeal form. They also under-
estimated the powers of temptation:

…As soon as they descended to earth, the evil inclination seized them…
                                                                                     - Zohar Beresheet A50[13]

Immediately, “The sons of the Elohim (God) saw the daughters of man...” They were filled with
passion for them…
                                                      - Zohar Beresheet A20[14]

So much for superior intellect. The Watchers – originally there to help people – could not help them-
selves withstand those who followed the “Ways of Cain.” Through these exchanges of occult
knowledge for sex, the Watchers ended up dragging down their world even further.[15] Here, we
continue with our reinterpretation of Genesis, Chapter 6:

…and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old…
                                                                                     - Gen. 6:4 (KJV)

These words, though initially confusing, come right to the point:
the same stands for these same
offspring (of the Watchers). We also are aware the offspring of the Nephilim were called Anakim. The
cross-bred descendants of the Watchers would be called the
Mighty Men. These Mighty Men were
called s
o because, when they grew to adulthood, they grew to an even mightier size.[16] Because
the Watchers were so large to begin with, their descendants grew up to 12 feet tall, 3 to 4 feet taller
than the Anakim!

A number of the women of this day, thanks to the
Nephilim, began to have the desires for even more
power, and saw the Watchers as the next target.
They wanted even more occult and superior knowl-
edge, and prepared their bodies in a way to get
what they desired. The women scented their selves,
fixed their hair, and began to dress seductively. They
did all they could to make themselves look irresistible
to these Watchers. To their dismay, it would be enough
to charm even them.[10] These acts of fornication will segue
us into, probably, the most confusing set of verses in the Bible:

Gen. 6:
